Genetic Fidelity Studies
In order to ascertain genetic fidelity of micropropagated plants of sandalwood through axillary shoot proliferation and somatic embryogenesis 50 RAPD markers were used. It was found that plants raised through axillary shoot proliferation as well as somatic embryogenesis were genetically identical to the mother plants even after 2 years of establishment of cultures. Similarly, in micropropagated plants of Bambusa bambos and Dendrocalamus strictus, genetic stability was observed even after 16 months after establishment of cultures based RAPD and ISSR markers
