PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
Process Development Engineering, Saw Milling and Saw Doctoring (PDES) Division is equipped with multifarious infrastructure facilities for carrying out investigations and conducting experiments and trials at pilot scale levels simulating conditions existing in factories in the field of wood, plywood and other panel products from lignocellulosic materials. These facilities help in effective implementation and easy adaptation by the industries of technologies developed at the Institute.

Saw doctoring and Sawmilling.
Product designing, development and quality assessment.
Formulation of draft National standards as well revision/amendments of national standards.
Testing of wood and different types wood products viz; Plywood, Particle board, Medium Density Fiber board, Block board, Flush door, products from bamboo and other lignocellulosics composite boards.
Testing of fire Rated doors for 30, 60, 90 and 120 min as per IS 3614 (part 2) & BS 476 (part 20 and 22).
Conducting theory and Practical’s for PGD Course.
Technical consultancy by way of
Attending to shop level / floor level issues faced by the industries.
Onsite training for floor level workers in industry.
Consultancy project for preparation of plant layout, machine specifications, assisting in finalization of technical bid for machine procurement, providing third party inspection for machine procurement by Govt. Dept. / Agencies etc.
