Advanced Woodworking Training Center

The Advanced Woodworking Training Center (AWTC) is a premier training centre is located in the heart of Bangalore city. It was established by the Institute of Wood Science & Technology (IWST) as the first Training Center in India with an aim to enhance skillset of manpower working in wood-based industries. In this endeavour, AWTC provides trained manpower to the wood based industries for handling advanced machines and tools to work on various wood and wood products that meet the global standards.

Over the last one and half decade, AWTC trained to more than 2500 professionals who are proficient in handing state of the art machines used in the wood working. It houses more than 40 different categories of advanced machines and tools to impart the skills to the trainees. The short term training courses and diploma offered by the AWTC is taught by highly experienced and well trained master trainers. Considering the research and training facilities available IWST and AWTC respectively, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India has recognized as a Centre of Excellence in the field of skilling ecosystem in the country.

AWTC was established in 2003 as a joint venture between Government of India (through Institute of Wood Science & Technology) and Italian Government (through Italian Trade Commission and Italian Woodworking Machines &Tools Manufacturers Association) and it was run jointly till 2011. Presently, it is being managed by the IWST which is a premier research institute works under the aegis of Indian Council of Forestry Research & Education (ICFRE), which is an autonomous body of Ministry of Environment & Forests, Government of India.
